Free Respite Child Care (for children up to school age) is available through the MFRC for one continuous 3 hour period per week up to a maximum of 4 sessions per month when a military parent is deployed (or away for work related reasons) for 28 consecutive days or more (21 days for the Submarines and MCDV members). Punch Cards (available at the MFRC) are used to keep track for the period during which each family can access the program. Parents must complete registration forms and follow established guidelines. This program is made possible by donations to the MFRC through the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC). If you have unique child care needs, please contact us.
These sessions are for family members and loved ones of serving members onboard HMCS REGINA. These sessions begin at 12 noon with a potluck lunch followed by a planning session with the Family Network and video link-up with the ship. The Commanding Officer will talk directly to families about what they have been up to and answer any questions. Senior members of the Canadian Fleet Pacific will also be on hand to address concerns. Questions are encouraged. An Adult Workshop follows the briefing. Child minding is available from 12:30-3:30pm. Registration required at least one week prior to session date for all participants. For further information, or to register your child care needs, call the MFRC 24 Hour Information line at 250-363-2640.
