Deployment Respite Child Care Program
Free Respite Child Care (for children up to school age) is available through the MFRC for one continuous 3 hour period per week up to a maximum of 4 sessions per month when a military parent is deployed (or away for work related reasons) for 28 consecutive days or more (21 days for MCDV members). Punch Cards (available at the MFRC) are used to keep track for the period during which each family can access the program. Parents must complete registration forms and follow established guidelines. This program is provided through MFRC fundraising dollars. If you have unique child care needs, please contact us.
Mailing Information
The Esquimalt MFRC accepts letters/parcels to be shipped to a deployed military member. This is a free service. You can drop off your parcels for free at any MFRC Location. The MFRC can provide you with wrapping paper and tape, but they do not have any boxes.
The following are the cut off dates for mail bound for HMCS VANCOUVER.- HMCS VANCOUVER's mail will now be sent out each Friday from CFB Esquimalt. Mail must be dropped off at the MFRC by close of business each Tuesday in order to make the weekly mail out deadline. Note that the CPAC MFRC is open until 9pm from Monday to Thursday. All other locations close at 4:30pm.
- Canada Post is offering family and friends of deployed persons free delivery of parcels from October 17, 2011 until January 13, 2012. [More info]
- Final mail cut off date for the HMCS VANCOUVER is now Monday January 16, 2012. All mail needs to be at the MFRC by close of business on Monday.

Mission Information Line (1–800–866–4546)
The Mission Information Line is a toll free, bilingual telephone service for families of Canadian military personnel serving an operational role outside of Canada. The purpose of this line is to provide families with timely and accurate information, reassurance, support and referral to other resources when required. The line is accessible 24 hours a day, however line personnel is available from 8 am – 12 midnight (Eastern) Monday – Friday, except on statutory holidays. This service is strictly confidential. The Mission Information Line is not a substitute to the Military Family Resource Centres, rather a supplement to their service.

Sunday Information Sessions - HMCS VANCOUVER
These sessions are for family members and loved ones of serving members onboard HMCS VANCOUVER. This final session will begin with Banner Making at 11:00am followed by a Catered Lunch provided by the HMCS VANCOUVER and then a video link-up with the ship. During the link-up, the Commanding Officer will talk directly to families about what they have been up to and answer any questions you may have. Senior members of the Canadian Fleet Pacific will also be on hand to address concerns and questions. Questions are encouraged. An adult workshop with MFRC Staff place at 2pm followed by a session designed for those with children dealing with deployment as well. Child minding is provided from 11:00am - noon and again from 12:30-4:30pm. For further information or to register your child care needs, call the MFRC at 250-363-2640. Registration required at least 4 days in advance prior to session date for all participants.

Return and Reunion Workshop
Military families have identified reunion as their most challenging time to manage. The MFRC invites you to an information session designed to address your needs and concerns about family reunion. Operational stress and time away from home your reunion process. Having an understanding of the impact of transitioning from an operational theatre to everyday life is essential for your entire family - including your returning loved one. This presentation mirrors what the members are given as they transit home and is designed to help members and families understand about adjustment post-tour. Discover useful techniques and tips to have a successful homecoming.
