Fun Places to Visit North of the Malahat
- Holt Creek Trestle once served as an important link between Victoria and the timberlands of the Cowichan Valley. It was built in 1939. To get to the trestle from Duncan turn right at Miller Road, follow Miller Road and turn left on Glenora. Continue on for 4 km and turn right on Vaux Road; stay right and you will reach the Cowichan Provincial Park – Cowichan Footpath and Glenora (Holt Creek) Trailhead and the Cowichan Fish and Game Association Clubhouse. Parking is available.
- Cowichan Valley Museum and Archives is located right in the centre of Duncan and is housed in the old railroad station along the E & N railway. Call 250-746-6612.
- BC Forest Discovery Centre is located off the #1 highway in Duncan at 2892 Drink Water Road. Call 250-715-1113.
Bright Angel Park has trails that wind through the forest and cross a suspension bridge high above the river. The park is located south of Duncan at Cowichan Station. To get to this beautiful park, travel 3 km west on Koksilah Road, 3 km north of the Cowichan Bay Road intersection on highway #1. Cross the bridge and keep to the right.
- Mill Bay Nature Park features walking trails, nature viewing, picnic sites, spawning creek and many more.
- Quarry Wilderness Park is a 23 acre park located on the east side of Cobble Hill Mountain. The park has a rich and diverse plant and wildlife population.
- Coverdale Watson Park is a one acre park located off Wilmot Road in Cowichan Bay. This park is ideal for a family picnic with its multi-sport and playground area and washrooms.
- Kingburne Park is best known for the Bonanza Ranch that occupied approximately 73 acres of the area along the Koksilah River. Enjoy the history of this park.
- Cowichan Golf and Country Club is a par 70, 6189 yard long course with many tight fairways lined with trees. The course features views of the Cowichan Bay and surrounding mountains.
