Community Resources

  • Sooke Arena and Swimming Pool Leisure Complex is located at 2168 Phillips Road. Call SEAPARC (Sooke Electoral Area Parks And Recreation Commission) Administrative Services and Information for program registration, and all other information at 250-642-8000.
  • Sooke Works Employment Centre provides a list of job opportunities for people living in Sooke. For more information call 250-642-3685.

  • Sooke Branch of the Vancouver Island Regional Library is located at 2065 Anna Marie Road in Sooke. Books are available onsite or by order. For more information call 250-642-3022.
  • Sooke Crisis and Referral Centre is located at 2043 Church Road. This agency assists people requiring emotional support and referral. For more information call 250-642-0215.
  • Sooke Food Bank can be reached at 250-642-7666.
  • Women’s Transition House provides emergency shelter, at no cost, for women and children experiencing relationship abuse and/or violence. Crisis intervention, counselling and referrals to other community agencies is also available. Call 250-642-2591 or a 24 hour pager at 250-480-5461.
  • Protective Family Service provides counselling and support services for children/youth and their families. For more information call 250-642-7748.
  • Sooke Family Resource Society is dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of families and individuals of all ages through educational programs and by providing accessible services for family support, counselling, resources, referrals, crisis intervention and volunteer opportunities. Located at the Sooke Child, Youth and Family Centre, visit 2145 Townsend Road. Call 250-642-5152 or visit their website
  • Sooke Child, Youth and Family Centre is a one-stop location for children and youth service agencies in the community of Sooke. Nine (9) agencies reside in the building, which was built by the Queen Alexandra Foundation. The building has a daycare and a preschool, family counselling centres, a community kitchen and clothing loan service. These agencies provide services, Edward Milne Community School Society, Ministry of Children and Family Development, Pacific Centre Family Services Association, Sooke Co-operative Preschool, Sooke Family Resource Society, Sooke Options for Community Living, Sooke Women's Transition House, Steps to the Future Child Care Society and Vancouver Island Health Authority.   • Sooke Harbour Chamber of Commerce is located at 6631 Sooke Road and is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For further information please call 250-642-6112.
  • Sooke Visitor Centre is located at 2070 Phillips Road and is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 7 days a week during the summer and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday from October to April. For further information please call 250-642-6351.

 Ongoing Activities

  • The Red Hat Sooke Sirens is a social club for women over 50 who get together for picnics in the park, walks along the Galloping Goose Trail and dinners at local restaurants. For further information visit their website or send an email.
  • Art - Through the year there are studio tours in the area. Look in the Sooke New Mirror newspaper for event information. There are also art galleries and home studios that visitors can drop by throughout the year.
  • Vita Vittles - Free Lunch Fridays - The Anglican Church at 1962 Murray Road hosts a free lunch every Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This event is open to everyone: single parents with tots, adults, seniors and teens.   • Sooke Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54 - There are weekly events and entertainment at the Sooke Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54 located at 6726 Eustace Road. For more information please call 250-642-5913 or 250-642-2052.
  • Vancouver Island Bluegrass and Old Tyme Country Acoustic Jam - The Legion's Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Jam is held the first and third Sundays of the month, beginning at 2:00 p.m. There is no entry fee. Please push the buzzer to gain entrance. All visitors are welcome. The event is hosted at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54 located at 6726 Eustace Road.   • West Coast Fly Fisher Association - There are special event fishing and monthly meetings. For more information please send an email.
  • Sooke Seniors - The British Columbia Old Age Pensioners Organization Branch 88, has a Drop-in Centre open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 6689 Sooke Road. Please call 250-642-6898 for further information.
  • District of Sooke Municipality - A complete meeting schedule is available on the public notice board at the District of Sooke Municipal Hall at 2205 Otter Point Road. The 2005 Regular Council meeting schedule is available by phoning the Municipal Hall at 250-642-1634 or visiting their website.
  • Stage West Players - Stage West Players is a performing arts theatre group in Sooke. Stage West has two annual productions, spring and fall. Auditions are open to the public and new members are always welcome. For more information please call 250-642-6480 or visit their website.
