There are a few essential things to do when you get that posting message:

  • Register at one of the two MFRC locations.
  • Get a MFID for all dependents over the age of 13.
  • Sign-up for Wednesday Coffee Nights by calling 250-363-2640 (toll free: 1-800-353-3329).
  • Check out the MFRC Library for resources to assist with your move.
  • Pick up the latest MARPAC Activity Guide to find out about programs and services offered by the MFRC and Personnel Support Programs (PSP).

Coffee Nights

Connect with other newcomers in the community at the weekly coffee night. Traditionally called Deployment Coffee Nights (because many of the people who attend have members deployed), these evenings were so successful that many people still meet up every Wednesday to stay connected. Military families new to the area are welcome to join in, meet new people and learn more about the community.  MFRC staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide information.  Please register five days in advance is required for all participants by calling 250-363-2640 (toll free: 1-800-353-3329).  Free child care provided if required and booked a week in advance.

Formation Fun Day

Close to 2,000 people participated in last year’s outstanding event! CFB Esquimalt transforms into a giant fairground for this annual fun day for the Defence Community. Inflatables, games, prizes, food, and entertainment for all ages. [Learn more about Formation Fun Day]

Military 101

Meet other new military community members and learn more about the military lifestyle! A facilitator will lead you through an exploration of the exciting and challenging lifestyle that comes with this worthy profession. The facilitator will also answer your questions about deployment, relocation, parenting and communication. You will hear from a panel of experienced military spouses and CF members that will share their experiences, stories and answer any questions you may have about living this life. Newcomer's BBQ

New to Victoria? Come join us for a barbeque, meet new people and learn more about the Colwood Pacific Activity Centre. There will be fun activities for the kids and a meal for you and your family. There will be arts and crafts, street hockey, video games on the big screen, bouncy castle and hotdogs and hamburgers at a minimal cost. Participants are required to register by calling 250-363-2640 (toll free: 1-800-353-3329).
